New Good Stuff

At 48 I along with many other people have looked for a way to upgrade my life and my health. I would like to include you in some of my findings as I feel they could very well be useful to others. I am all about natural everything. I feel that for every ailment our creator stuck us with, he also put something on this earth to counteract these ailments, however it is up to us to learn what works and what doesn't. I mean look, the pharmaceutical companies are not going to tell us that if you go to your garden and make a tea out of D-G-and H it will cure you! Hell no! If they did that they would be out of business right? But the fact is that they can't make medication for us out of something that was not already on this earth!
I watch The Doctors when I'm not working (great show) and Dr Oz is not only informative he is funny.....actually he is one smart cookie and I will drop what I am doing to watch him. You can find him on Oprah. In this quest for better heath and Good Stuff I have found http://earthclinic.com/ There I have learned about Apple cider vinegar which cures many things like acid reflux, helps you loose weight, good for sinusitis and too many other things to mention. Olive oil which is a detox for your liver and just plain good for you all around. Watch how much of it you consume though, cause what goes in must come out ;) Its great to cook with or make a garlic mixture for dinner bread. It is also great on salad. Turmeric is the new herb I have added but the only way I have been able to find it is in pill form, which is ok but I would like to cook with it also so I will keep looking for it in the spice section. Turmeric is used as an anti inflammatory and to ward off cancer among other things, it is listed as an immune booster.
Dr Oz was telling us one day how people in parts of the world that eat spicy foods have virtually no alzheimers present in their culture, so I have added some of those spices to my rack. Ginger, cumin, turmeric, garlic and olive oil have all become staples in my pantry.
I recommend that you research anything you put in your body that you hear me talk about the same way I researched! There is no way I can cover all the benefits that an herb or a product has so I will turn the learning stick over to you!
I will leave you with my recent special! Fruit prices are soooo low right now and the price you pay for store bought fruit smoothies is just way too high, not to mention all the JUNK they pack into them and then there is that plastic bottle. Pull out your blender cut up your fruit add some yougart and some honey some fruit juice and some ice and make some fruit smoothies. When you make them you know whats in them (NO JUNK) and I found that I actually had more fruit in one cup than I had had in 6 months.
Time to get healthy people!......Good luck to you!

My invisible Car

I have a few pet peeves and I will tell you about one as I am sure this happens to others as well as myself. There seem to be days when my car is invisible, I don't understand how this happens or why. Have you ever been going down the road and someone either pulls out in front of you or makes a turn in front of you forcing you to hit your brakes? Then to your surprise you look in the rear view mirror and there is not a soul behind and this person would have had plenty of time to turn after you pass, but they just had to do it in front of you! Its kind of funny that these days sometimes coincide with days where I myself am invisible. Humm maybe I have for moments in these days found myself in a different realm of space and time.

Homemade Deodorant

So a couple of weeks ago I went looking for a way to make my own deodorant. Why you ask? Well lets see most of the stuff I get in the store doesnt really do anything for me, Plus they ALL have what you will hear me refer to a lot as junk in them. So many products we buy have too much junk and contain too many things that I cant even pronounce. Aluminum for one is not a good thing.
This is the way I look at it and it makes it really simple. Deodorant is for 2 things to 1 keep you from smelling and 2 antiperspirant to keep you from sweating. Keep me from smelling thats easy..... its the keep me from sweating I have a problem with. The way I look at it in order to keep you from sweating you have to close your pores and when you close your pores things get backed up, clogged up and I would think smell worse. Your pores were made to let bad stuff out. Oils, sebum, sweat, ect. these things all need a way to get out of your body and if you close the gate you may get a flood or an explosion. Like Ok my face gets oily and I have some very big pores. Now if I use a pore reducer yes when I put my makeup on I will look better because I wont have all these open pores right? But tomorrow or a few day from now after using it the junk cant get out of my face so it gets backed up and boom pimples......So Hummm I guess I will settle for the larger pores
Sorry I got off subject but the same is true with antiperspirant. So after checking out all these sites to give me ideas on Deodorant I chose this one.
1/4 cup corn starch( keeps you dry)
1/4 baking soda ( keeps smell down)
2-1/2--3 tbls coconut oil
Now I played with this a little and I found I like it more on the moist side because it goes on easier than real dry. I also would tend to lean to having a little more corn starch than baking soda because the soda can irritate some. I did add a little lavender to mine and I made some for my friend and added some juniper to hers and hers smells so nice and fresh! I use only essential oils in my body products as fragrance oils have too much (you guessed it) Junk.
I like the idea of the coconut oil beacuse it is thicker and in the future I may try it with shea butter, although shea has a smell of its own that needs to be covered up.
I have used it for a week now and I am very happy with it all the way around.
Coming soon the homemade laundry soap made with Fels Naptha Soap which by the way I found the best price for at http://soapsgonebuy.com (buy 7 bars for she same shipping price) I have had a hard time finding this soap at a good price that I felt comfortable with.
Once I have all the ingediants and have a chance to try it I will let you know my opinion!

100 years from now

1000 Years from now what will we have left to our children to live on? 100 years from now how much garbage will we have planted in our earth and oceans? This scares the hell out of me. No! I wont be here but I will have left too much junk in my wake as will have you! Something to think about NOW.
My mission this summer was to start some rootings from some of the beautiful bushes I have growing in my yard. In wanting to do this of course I dont want to spend any money!
Hummm...what to do ....what to do!!
This is when my distain for plastic bottles came into play. My city does not have a recycle program for plastic and as much as I hate it I do buy some product that come in plastic bottles. ie juice, milk, spag sauce. I will buy in glass if I have the choice but too many times I dont have that choice. So back to rooting my plants and not spending money. I have all the pots I need. I have cut the tops off all the plastic bottles that go thru my house and poked holes in the bottom and wahla!!! instant pot for future baby bushes. I have rows and rows of them lined up on my porch and the plants growing in them are doing quite well. Now when fall comes around I can give my plants to all my friends that want one and I can add to my own garden as well. Best of all I can at least for a little while keep these plastic bottles out of the landfill.
Another thing I do is I catch my rain water, after all it is the best. I have kept the giant plastic jugs that I sometimes get my kitty litter in. I put the plastic jugs where they will catch the run off from my roof and then when full I transfer the water to the empty milk jugs as they are much easier to handle. I dont have to pull the hose out and I dont have to keep making trips to the kitchen for plant water.
I have also been looking into these greenhouses made of plastic pop bottles. I think its an awesome idea, however I need more pop bottles than I would ever use. I do think schools should look into building these. It would be easy for all the students to bring in liter bottles and each class build a wall or something. We could teach our children how to grow food and get them interested in something other than being couch potatoes!

Nothing but good stuff today!

I wake in the morning and say to the universe "Nothin but good stuff today....Good day, Good friends, Good love and Good money" I guess that about covers all the bases.Yes I have found from day one that it changes your life rather quickly. I get back what I put out and I set the standard for that every morning. Its all so simple really, when your nicer to people you draw like a magnet nicer people to you and so it is with every thing you think and feel. You know that old saying? Build it and they will come. Like attracts like. So what my blogs will be about will be in the area of Environmental, Gardening, Homemade body products and home cleaners. I am on an all natural kick .....or well as much as one can try for in this day and time. I am sick and tired of paying out my hard earned money for manufactured products that I can not only make at home but things that when you question what goes into them contain harmful ingredients. I'm making changes and you are welcome to come on this journey with me and I am always open to listening to your 2 cents cause when it is all said and done....none of us can do this alone!
